My first time - Rice Water Rinse
Heyaaa Curly, After a long time I finally tried the Rice Water Rinse and decided to film everything for you! Basically this is a homemade protein masque that may be used every week, every other week or even once a month, depending on your hair needs. I read a lot into this but ended up changing some things here and there to fit my needs.
I don't belive I can explain it any better than @powerdomi (https://www.instagram.com/powerdomi/) and @themestizamuse (https://www.instagram.com/themestizamuse/). Their articles were the very best that I found, so make sure you go on Instagram follow them both and read their posts!
First of all, I used the "boilling method" which consists on boilling the rice! (unexpected right? ahaha)
Here are the steps I followed:
1st) Place 1 cup of white rice in 3 cups of tap water into a saucepan. Let it come to a boil and then lower the heat to it's minimum. This process took me around 30 minutes;
2nd) Collect the rice water into a large container;
3rd) Shampoo the scalp using Shea Moisture's Coconut & Hibiscus Curl and Shine shampoo;
4th) Apply a bit of Shea Moisture's Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Hair Masque only to the length of the hair and twist it as best as possible to remove most of the water;
5th) Place the hair inside the container with the rice water and let it soak in. Finger comb the hair to make sure the water is evenly distributed;
6th) Put the hair in a high bun with a heat cap on for about 20 minutes;
7th) Rinse all of and shampoo using the same shampoo;
8th) Style using Giovanni's Direct Leave in Conditioner and Eco Styler's Argan Oil gel.
I loved the results although I would advise the use of a conditioner after the second shampooing as my hair was super duper dry when I went to style it. Better than reading is watching the video on my YouTube channel!!
